Sen. Chad Barefoot has been appointed chairman of the N.C. General Assembly’s Joint Legislative Workforce Development System Reform Oversight Committee.
Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger announced the Senate appointments to the General Assembly’s interim committees on December 1.
“I look forward to serving as chairman of the Joint Legislative Workforce Development System Reform Oversight Committee and using these important oversight meetings to prepare for the upcoming session,” said Barefoot, a Republican who represents District 18, which consists of parts of Wake County, including Rolesville, along with Franklin County.
The Joint Legislative Workforce Development System Reform Oversight Committee will monitor and oversee efforts to streamline the workforce development system, enhance accountability for the workforce development system, strengthen the JobLink Career Center system and improve access to workforce development activities throughout the state.
Barefoot has also been appointed to serve on the Joint Legislative Oversight Committees on Education, Government Operations, Health and Human Services, and Information Technology. He will serve as an advisory member to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Capital Improvements.
These committees, which are composed of bipartisan members of the House and Senate, will meet periodically until the legislature returns in April 2016 for its short session.
