Dance Kicks Off New School Year

August 2015

Sanford Creek Elementary kicked off the new school year with an all-school dance assembly on July 24. Organized by P.E. teacher Leigh Anne Sandy to celebrate National Dance Day, parents, Mayor Frank Eagles, staff, and over 500 students took part in the event. Staff and kids performed choreographed dances to the “The Continental Drift” (from “Ice Age 4”), “The Cha Cha Slide,” and the National Dance Day instrumental version of “(Shut Up and) Dance” by Walk the Moon.

“The idea behind this event is to get people moving and promoting a healthy lifestyle,” Sandy explained. “Kids get the message and share it at home and with others.”
