Dominque Simon has been named the new FCS agent for Franklin and Warren counties.

Dominque is a native of South Carolina who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition & Food Management from South Carolina State University and a Master of Science degree in Food& Nutritional Sciences from Tuskegee University. While at Tuskegee, she completed a thesis involving research on the sweet potato to develop syrup for possible use by astronauts in space. Dominque has worked as a Nutritionist with the Granville-Vance District Health Department WIC (Women, Infant, Children) program for 6 years before assuming her current duties on February 1 .

Her work as a Family and Consumer Science agent will focus on healthy eating, physical activity, chronic disease reduction as well as volunteer readiness. She plans to offer classes that will encourage the increase of fruits and vegetables consumption which can lead to an overall improvement in health.  She also plans to focus on increasing the economic value of volunteer time contributed by trained adult volunteers by accepting responsibility for community and increasing the reach of programs in the community.
