The Relay For Life event will be held May 20 at the Wake Forest Baptist Church Annex on Wake Union Church Road in Wake Forest. Relay for Life is a community-based event in which teams of three or more members set up campsites and take turns walking in honor of those who are battling cancer or those who had cancer and lost the battle.

Marga-RELAY-ville is a 5K run for individual participants or a 5K relay for teams of three persons – each running a mile. The run will be timed by Precision Race on a certified course starting and finishing in front of the Wake Forest Chamber of Commerce at 350 S. White St. in downtown Wake Forest. Each participant will receive a bag of goodies, including a runner shirt and items from local merchants. Age category winners will be awarded prizes and medals at the wrap-up ceremony after the run. Cancer survivors are encouraged to register and participate, and special awards will go to cancer survivor participants.

Local businesses are banding together to support the Marga-RELAY-ville event and the spirit of the run, a festive “Margaritaville” theme in Jimmy Buffett style. “Parrothead” attire is encouraged, with awards planned for best “Parrothead” dress. Participants and supporters can enjoy a live DJ performance by First Choice DJ Services featuring Jimmy Buffett music, a supervised bounce house for the small non-runners and sustenance for participants at the conclusion of the run. Food and beverages will be available for purchase by the general public, with proceeds going to Relay For Life.

White Street Brewery will open early to accommodate race participants.

Wake Forest RFL Fundraising Inc., a tax-exempt organization made up of a group of community volunteers, returns to conduct the Marga-RELAY-ville event. Additional volunteers and sponsors are needed to help make this event a great success. Local merchants are encouraged to set up booths at the event to promote their products for a minimal booth fee.

Come out and join the effort to raise funds to Kick Cancer to the Curb!
