Nancy Grant is the recipient of the Town of Wake Forest’s 2016 Michealle Bozman-Barton Guest Services Volunteer of the Year award.

Cathi Roberson, the town’s Guest Services Volunteer Coordinator, made the announcement April 14 during the town’s sixth annual Guest Services Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at the Alston-Massenburg Center.

In presenting the award, Roberson acknowledged Grant’s initiative and willingness to complete projects at home during her personal time. Roberson also recognized Grant’s contribution of nearly 200 volunteer hours since she joined the program in 2014.

Approximately 50 volunteers and Wake Forest staff attended the April 14 luncheon that also included remarks by Mayor Vivian Jones and Town Manager Kip Padgett.

The Guest Services Volunteer of the Year award is named in honor of Michealle Bozman-Barton who was instrumental in establishing the town’s guest services program in 2010. Previous winners of the award include Rosa Miller-Boykin (2011); Bob Rooney (2012); Carolyn Cort Griffin (2013); Ann Thomas (2014); and Wayne Arnold (2015).

Among their responsibilities, guest services volunteers welcome and greet visitors to town hall, direct individuals to appropriate offices and answer general questions. In 2015 town hall’s 20 guest services volunteers contributed 1,459 hours of service. During the first quarter of 2016, participants have already donated 449 service hours.

The Town of Wake Forest is recruiting friendly, outgoing volunteers to participate in the Guest Services Volunteer Program. Guest services volunteer application forms are available online and at the first floor customer information desk at town hall, 301 S. Brooks St. For more information, visit wakeforestnc.gov and search “Guest Services Volunteers.
