Hobbies / Interests? “Outside of school, I like to spend time with my friends hanging out. I like to spend time with my family and play basketball, too. I like to play ‘NBA 2K’ with my little brother, and I work at Wendy’s part-time, so people catch me over there sometimes at the Wendy’s on Perry Creek.”

Plans After Graduation? After graduation on June 8, I’m planning to attend a four-year college. I want to major in criminal justice. I haven’t decided exactly which school I want to go to yet. I’ve been looking at UNC Greensboro, Winston-Salem State, N.C. Central. I feel like, personally, I’d like to go to an HBCU (historically black college or university) because they are very family oriented, too.”

Long-Term Goals? “After college, I’d like to start my law career and building my life up. Just seeing where I want to go, and whether or not I’m ready to have kids, and things like that.”

People or Things That Have Had a Major Influence Your Life? “My parents, especially my dad. When I was younger, I didn’t understand why he was so hard on me. Lately, I’m beginning to see why. It’s a generational thing. His dad raised him that way, and he turned out really well. When my dad gives me some advice on something, I’m starting to step back and think about what he tells me, and I realize how right he is about a lot of things.”
