The Dance Attic of Wake Forest took 43 routines to Star Talent Productions on March 13-14 in Louisburg and received outstanding awards. The Dance Attic competitors took first place in their categories for 32 routines. Thirty-four of their routines placed in the overall highest scores for their divisions, including 17 first-place overall high scores.
The tap routine titled “The Mysterious Ticking Noise” received one of only three High Platinum Awards, the highest score of 81 routines for groups ages 13 years and older, and the routine ultimately received the highest score for the entire competition. Also, out of 54 routines, “All I Do Is Win” received the highest score for groups ages 12 years and below. Rachel Teem choreographed both of the highest-scoring routines.
Five special awards were given to Dance Attic routines: Choreography Award, Fabulous Tap Award, Judges Choice Award, Total Package Award and Breathy and Beautiful Award.
The Dance Attic has a competition team. However, for this competition the company took its class routines plus solo, duet and trio competitors. By taking class routines to competition, the staff provides all levels of dancers an opportunity to compete.
